Ultimate Choc Chip Cookies

Equipment Required

  • Weighing scales

  • Spatula                

  • Large mixing bowl

  • Baking sheet

  • Small mixing bowl

  • Baking paper

  • Measuring cups

  • Cooling rack

  • Measuring spoons

  • Oven gloves 


  • 125g butter, melted

  • 1¼ cups soft brown sugar

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

  • 1¾ cups self-raising flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1 cup dark chocolate broken into chips


  • Pre-heat oven to 160°C.  Line a baking sheet with baking paper.

  • Place the butter in a small bowl and melt in the microwave - allow to cool slightly.

  • Pour melted butter into a large bowl and stir in the brown sugar until smooth and almost dissolved.

  • Lightly beat the egg and stir into the sugar along with the vanilla essence.

  • Gradually mix flour and baking powder into the sugar mixture until well combined.

  • Roughly chop dark chocolate into chips and stir into the mixture.

  • Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie mixture onto the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 18-20 minutes or until golden.  Don’t worry if the cookies look very soft – they will harden as they cool. 

  • Allow the cookies to cool slightly before transferring them to a cooling rack.
